Fort Marlborough is a relic of the British army in Bengkulu Province, Bengkulu City to be exact. This fort was founded by the East India Company in 1714-1719 under the leadership of Governor Joseph Callet as a British defense fort at that time. The Marlborough Fort was built on a hill made by the British, and faces the city of Bengkulu and has its back to the vast Indian Ocean.

This fort has been around for 300 years, but it still stands firmly and there has been no change in the times, now this fort was a place of defense during the British colonial era, this is where many of our prisoners were held in it and died.

The Marlborough Fort building is approximately 3 meters, so prisoners at that time would not be able to get out at all, then the entrance to Marlborough Fort was only one, and the way to enter there were 2 posts, where the first post passed the inspection bridge, and the second post also passes guard, so if there is an attack on the first post then the bridge to go through the second post can be lifted if there is an attack, the entrance to Fort Marlborough is made of very heavy, strong and thick wood, the entrance alone is very difficult for us to penetrate.

When viewed from above, Fort Marlborough has the same 4 corners and the four corners are a place of defense for the opponent's attack, and in the middle is the Fort's yard, if we look from above, Fort Marlborough resembles the shape of a tortoise.
