Soekarno occupied the house from 1938 to 1942 and a few weeks later followed by his wife, Inggit Garnasih and his adopted son Ratna Djuami, this house is approximately 1.6 Km from Fort Malborough, which is located at Jl. Soekarno Hatta No. 8, Anggut Atas, Kec. Gading Cemp., Bengkulu City, Bengkulu 38222, at the exile at the time Ir. The house, which was built in the early twentieth century, is rectangular in shape with a building area of approximately 162 m2. The house with a land area of 4,813 m² is surrounded by a fence, and that's where the exile of Ir. Soekarno, and there began a new life in the colonial period in Indonesia.
In this exile house there are several relics of Bung Karno which have high historical value. All of these objects are original objects and imitation objects which are silent witnesses who accompanied the Proclaimer while living in Bengkulu Province in formulating struggle strategies while in exile. Although this house is not large and spacious, the division of space and the arrangement of these valuables is quite neat and orderly, clean and comfortable to live in.

It was in this house of exile that our first President, Bung Karno and his wife Inggit Garnasih entertained the family of Hassan Din, who is a Muhammadiyah figure from Curup, Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu. whose address is Jl. Fatmawati, Decrease, Kec. Ratu Samban, Bengkulu City, Bengkulu 38222, It was then, for the first time, that Bung Karno saw Hassan Din's young daughter, Fatmawati, whom he had brought with him. It was in that house that Fatmawati finally joined Bung Karno's house for a ride. It didn't take long, Fat, as he was called, became a friend of Ratna Djuami, the adopted son of Bung Karno. They not only sleep in the same room, they are also sent to school at RK Vakschool Maria Purrisima which is the best and highest school in Bengkulu City owned by a Catholic foundation. Long story short, Bung Karno also put his heart to Mrs. Fatmawati and finally married Mrs. Fatmawati. From this marriage, Bung Karno was blessed with 2 sons and 3 daughters, namely Guntur Soekarnoputra, Megawati Soekarnoputri, Rachmawati Soekarnoputri, Sukmawati Soekarnoputri, and Guruh Soekarnoputra. Time does not seem to be running and history continues to be engraved to commemorate the services of Bung Karno's struggle. Megawati was also the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia. Meanwhile, the exile house that was left and occupied by Megawati's parents is still the same without any changes or additional renovations, or changes in form.

The house is still standing firmly with construction that is still standing tall and well maintained, because it has been managed by the local government to be used as a tourist attraction, so anyone who wants to remember Bung Karno's services can visit here.

And now, Bung Karno's exile house in Bengkulu Province has become one of the mainstay historical tourism objects in addition to other historical buildings, such as the British heritage of Marlborough Fort. Bung Karno's exile house is always visited by many tourists on weekends. Every guest from within the city or outside the city, whether they come for work, business, or tourism purposes, almost always takes the time to visit this historic house to commemorate the history of our first President. It's incomplete when friends come to Bengkulu without visiting Bung Karno's exile house. In that house, we can still see the iron bed/bed that Bung Karno and his family used at that time. And also a collection of history books which are mostly in Dutch in the guest rooms and living room. There is also a group uniform from Bung Karno's Monte Carlo tonil during his time in Bengkulu. Photos of Bung Karno and his family are still neatly stored and also decorate almost the entire room. And what is no less interesting is Bung Karno's vehicle, an old bicycle that Bung Karno always used while in Bengkulu. Every tourist who visits must not forget to take pictures of this bike. “We have conserved the tonil uniforms and books, which amount to 303 copies, so that they are durable and long-lasting.

Now the house of Mrs. Fatmawati has also become a natural guard for tourism objects in the Bengkulu area, every day there are always people who come to Ir. Soekarno or Mrs. Fatmawat's house. remembering the historical heritage that still exists and being a silent witness to the struggle of Mrs. Fatmawati in sewing the red and white heritage flag.
